3rd edition of the international contest Draw me the abolition, two young Morrocans rewarded

The 3rd edition of the international poster contest "Draw me the abolition" took place this year, at the initiative of the association Together against the Death Penalty (ECPM) and the International Abolition Education Network. The international jury rewarded two young Moroccans for their creations.

This contest encouraged the commitment of young people from 12 abolitionist (de facto and de jure) and retentionist countries to the issue of the universal abolition of the death penalty.

11 organisations relayed this third edition in their respective countries, meeting young people at school in order to raise their awareness on the topic of death penalty by presenting pedagogical tools to guide the participants and organising the interventions of witnesses, such as former death row prisoners, their families or lawyers.

The international jury was composed of activists, associative and institutional actors and political representatives from 10 different countries, and selected 50 winning drawings.

Two young Moroccans were amongst the winners. Ahead of the creation process, Hassan AB and Yasmine T, both students at the Sanabil Alkhair High School il Témara, met Mustapha Mezroui of the Moroccan Organisation for Human Rights (OMDH) and Ahmed Haou, a former death row prisoner.
